"I had the absolute pleasure and privilege to work with Clive Newlands between 2011 and 2018. I first got to meet Clive during his time as the south-west regional lead for the High Potential Development Scheme (HPDS) on behalf of the NPIA (now the College of Policing). Clive identified that my coming from a small police service with a unique geographical and political arrangement presented different challenges than those faced by others from larger services in the UK. Clive was alert and sensitive to these differences and proactive in ensuring that I was not at a disadvantage to my colleagues during the process and five-year programme.
